I have two and a half days per working week to fill at the moment, so I’ve been thinking about what I could do to, perhaps, earn a few extra pennies (apart from indexing which is incredibly labour intensive). I have loads of experience of proof-reading and editing academic papers (for journals and co-edited volumes), so I’ve decided to add them to my roster of freelance activities.
Here’s the marketing blurb:
Proof-reading and light-editing (spelling, grammar and punctuation, basic formatting (rogue spacing, layout), readability and consistency): 1p per word.
Proof-reading with substantial editing: please contact me for a quote.
Fees are based on the recommendations of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (Sfep).
Documents will be annotated with BSI proof-correction marks.
