Started 6 month nearly full-time contract as Research Associate in the School of Museum Studies at the University of Leicester at the beginning of May. My role is to update the distance-learning MA programmes, all 4 of them, comprising 16 modules. It’s a HUGE task, but really enjoyable and fulfilling. I work Tuesdays to Friday full-time, with Mondays off (theoretically) for my own research. Hoping to knock out a few papers over the coming months if I can wean myself off Zynga’s ‘Castleville’.
The best bit of this working 9 to 5 thing is knowing that I will get paid at the end of every month without having to threaten anyone with the small claims court! Freelancing has its good points (flexibility, variety, CV points), but mostly it just sucks.
